An Economical Alternative
As an alternative addition to the standard lathe-type
cutoff machines for tube, pipe, rod and bar stock, Modern Machine Tool Company now offers
a line of tube-cutting lathes equipped with sophisticated laser cutoff mechanisms.
These precision machines are ideal for quickly cutting standard
carbon steel tubing as well as difficult alloys and stainless.. all without costly tooling
or coolants. They utilize many of the production-proven features that have kept Modern in
the forefront of cutoff technology since 1916.
Faster, Cleaner, Burr-Free Cuts
Available in five different models, with adjustable
output lasers in various sizes, these efficient cutoff machines can effortlessly slice
through hardened pipe and tubing from 1/2" to 8" O.D., with walls up to
.300" thick.
Tubing of any length can be cut quickly, precisely and cleanly,
with no burrs and minimal kerf loss. Customers are able to realize substantial cost
savings by speeding their production operations and reducing or eliminating
post-production machining procedures.
Optional CNC Control
CNC control permits precise C and Z axis rotational
contour cutting, hole cutting and slotting. All machines are equipped with air-to-water or
water-to-water chillers, and their hopper-type automatic tube feeders hold up to 10,000
lbs. of stock in any length.
Single-Point Control Console
One centralized console controls the entire system,
including feeder, cutoff machine, laser and chiller. Standard equipment includes: solid
state programmable controller, AC variable speed spindle drive, adjustable micrometer
stock stop, roller feed mechanism, automatic parts ejector, collet and guide tube, and
safety interlocked Class IV guarding.
Basic machines are available in various configurations to perform
straight radial cutting or contour cutting. Special applications, such as dual machines
utilizing a single shuttled laser unit, can be configured on request.

Automatic Tube Feeder
The sturdy hopper-type feeders store up to five tons of tubing, in any length,
automatically loading one tube at a time into the machine as needed. Feeders adjust
quickly to varying stock diameters. |
Special Applications
We're always happy to quote special applications. Here, for speed and
efficiency, two separate feeders and cutting stations utilize a single laser unit which
alternates between the two machines, cutting on one side as tubing is being advanced on
the other side. |
